About

Native to damp, deciduous European and Asian woodlands, this perennial plant grows abundantly from late winter onwards and enters dormancy as soon as summer approaches. In a food forest, it is ideal for occupying the herbaceous layer of the heavily shaded understorey, providing food during a period of scarcity without competing with summer crops.

It can be planted now — September is one of the best months.
