About

Biennial umbellifer with an edible tuberous root, traditionally cultivated in Central Europe. The tuber, with a sweet flavour similar to chestnut, is harvested in summer after autumn sowing. In a food forest, it occupies the root layer in cool, semi-shaded areas, and the flowers attract beneficial insects.
